P's and Q's Dip & Dye Event

P's and Q's (820 South) hosted a Dip & Dye event for Tretorn recently, and fun would be an understatement.  With meticulous efforts put in by the team to provide their supporters a first class experience, P's and Q's can consider this event a success.  Catered by "Tattoo Moms", also on South Street, the event sported a vegetarian spread consisting of cheesesteak rolls, falafels, Gushers, and to top it off some water ice and beverages.

There were a few different base colors to choose from, but the classic white was the most popular for this event.  a blank canvas is a great start to the Dip and Dye experience.  With the canvas material ready to absorb any color introduced to it, the rest of the shoe is more forgiving in the patent logo and midsole of the shoe. Picking a color to go with was almost the hardest part, but then came time to start.  Starting the process was terrifying for someone that normally makes sure to keep his shoes neat, but once the first splatter started it was all fun from there.

The immense amount of colors provided also played a part in my indecisiveness towards my own pair.  I came into it with a general idea of what colors i wanted to use on my tretorn, but you can't fully know what you're doing until you see the colors hitting the canvas.

The wide array of tools and colors provided by P's and Q's really kept everyones designs unique.  With an abundance of different shades that made two people choosing the same color hard.  Hanging around the event for a few hours I really got to see how everyone was different.  The different use of blocking and colors was great to witness throughout the event.

For my personal pair I wanted to use a combination of black, grey and red.  After an initial black layer i wanted to go over it in red to give a bolder feel and have it fade to the toe.  After the first couple of layers had dried out I could move onto using the bleach to take the customization to the next level.

All in all I left very pleased with my personal pair of Tretorns.  It was a great way to spend a few hours and meet new people who share similar interests.  I'm hoping the good guys at Ps & Qs feel like having an event like this again soon because I will be there to do a second and third pair without hesitation.  Enjoy some of the other photos below.

Ronnie Fieg x Asics "KFE"

This year happens to be one of those fortunate years that we get to enjoy the World Cup.  The marketing around the event is almost as exciting as the Cup itself.  So far through we have seen products being pushed by some of the biggest street wear brands out today.

Here we highlight one of the most anticipated sneaker releases around the world cup, the Ronnie Fieg KFE collection.  Over the years we have seen the demand for Ronnie's products grow substantially, and teaming up with the hype around one of the greatest tournaments around added to the excitement.

Ronnie utilized two of his favorite Asics models, the GT-II and the Gel Lyte III.  The Gel Lyte III was made in honor of the United States, and its counter part was in honor of the host nation of Brazil.  The Gel Lyte III is made up of premium materials and emphasizes the quest for gold.  The red, white, and blue accents appear all over the shoe which adds to the vibrance, but its the use in a variety of materials that make it special.

The blue and red leathers set this shoe off with its corresponding accents along the midsole.  During the U.S National squad's first game Ronnie and the Kith crew had something in store for his supporters.  As the first goal was struck by Clint Dempsey, moments later kith dropped the Gel Lyte III.  Like most releases within minutes they were all gone.

It remains to be seen if the US National team will have what it takes to withstand the struggle of the World Cup, but if they do this will surely be one of the more memorable releases for it.

Ronnie's GT-II made in the spirit of A Seleção, shows off a vibrant blue suede along the sought after GT-II model.  Instead of going with the obvious tones of yellow and green for his inspiration, he went with the blue like in their jerseys.

Accompanied with a very creative sports style collection Ronnie can sit back and enjoy the rest of the world cup and see which of the two get further.  If you missed out on either of these releases be sure to grab them before the prices on these rise.

Suplex Philadelphia present Action Bronson with 1 of 1 New Balance Custom

Just a few days after our Li-Ning release were were blessed with the opportunity to give one of our favorite artists a gift that shows our support.  We wanted to do something for Action Bronson that he could remember his Philadelphia stop of the "Blue Chips 2" tour for a long time.  We decided to go with a custom 574 for AB, using his album art for Blue Chips 2 as our inspiration we came away with a clean shoe that still accented the best parts of the artwork.  Once we had the shoe done we couldn't just leave it at that, we needed more.  We received some help from our friends Kevin McCarthy and William Sanders with creating a memorable box to house the gift.  We created the layout for where we wanted the logos burned into the box and from there we let Kevin and William do their thing and it came out great.  We topped it off with a few extra goodies from us and presented him with it at the Theatre of Living Arts on South Street.

Li-Ning Way of Wade 2 "Birthday" Release

Suplex is proud to announce the release of the Li-Ning Way of Wade "Birthday" exclusive.  After examining the materials used for this shoe it is clear to see why they were made in such a limited quantity.  The main make up of the shoe is a 3M outer corresponding with its unique zig zag designs.  Using different weighted strokes in the zig zag pattern achieves a clean abstract look connected to a black midsole that is splattered with gold.  Li-Ning clearly put some time into this piece and thought of everything.

As far as the release goes, we will be hosting the event from 3-6 pm on THURSDAY, 16th of January.  The shoes will be sold at 3 PM on a first come first serve basis.  We will be the only brick and mortar shop in the United States to release these, so do arrive early if you want to make sure your size is available.

Air Jordan 11 "Gamma Blue"

Just in time for Christmas, the Jordan Brand strikes again.  Christmas time has almost become a tradition for the Jordan Brand to release the much coveted Jordan eleven model, and this year they introduce us to the Gamma.  This is the first time we are seeing a Jordan eleven in this color scheme.  In the years before we saw the eleven be brought out in classics such as the Cool Grey, Concord, Bred, and Space Jam with great acceptance.  Some might have questioned if these would rank up there with those, but after seeing the struggle of picking these up there is little doubt left.  If you were unable to get your pair on the release date make sure to follow our store and pick up a pair before the value in these start to rise up.
